Can I use a pyrex cup in place of a carafe in my coffee maker?

I know that you can’t use pyrex on the stovetop, but the carafe on my coffeemaker broke and I’ve found it it would cost me more to replace it than I originally paid for the coffee maker (which I got just a month ago). I was thinking of getting a pyrex measuring cup- which would only cost me a couple bucks. I just don’t know if the hot plate part of the warmer gets so hot that it would shatter the pyrex or something.

Yes you should be able to.
pyrex is made to withastand heat. I would not reccomend leaving it there for long periods of time , but should serve to catch the coffee.
Be sure you get a pyrex that is microwavable.
i had another thought to add. make sure there is not a pause and serve feature for your maker. this is a little stopper on the bottem of the basket of grounds. It is put there for those who can’t wait till pot is done. i agree you could use the pyrex but as i said look for that feature on yours. You may be able to remove it.
If the heating hot plate unit has a separate switch, shut it off and the Pyrex should work. If you have a thermos (and the hot part can be shut off) that would be best.
next time you get a coffee maker, I recommend the kind with a thermos. The best part is that you can make a few extra cups and still get a hot cup of (unburnt) coffee an hour or two after it is brewed
