I got starbucks coffee and it says to use it with a french press, can I use it with a regular coffee maker?

So I got a few packets of starbucks coffee and it says to use them with a french press, but I don’t have one. Can I use it with a regular coffee maker? Is there a way to simulate a french press with something else? What would be the difference? Thanks!Yeah I looked for the sample pack with 6 but they didn’t have it anymore at that store unfortunately. I got a 3 pack, and then the Christmas blend.

Yes, you can make it with a regular coffee maker. If I’m not mistaken, you probably got the sampler pack which contains about 6 different coffee varieties. They recommend a French Press because for most, that is the best way to make coffee, but using a regular coffee maker will work out just fine.

Yes you can use it for a regular coffee maker. About the only difference is that the coffee might be a tad weak. Normally a French press uses a slightly larger grind to make it easier to clean and press. it also reduces the sludge from normal grinds. I love mine press though, and use normal ground coffee in it to great effect. Have seen small presses at the grocery stores for less than $20.

Presses don’t use paper filters and you get a tastier cup of Joe from it. The closest thing would be a permanent metal filter for your normal coffee maker.Just clean it occasionally with a mix of lemon juice and dish soap.

Yes and no to the drip machine.

Yes, you can use the same coffee in multiple brewing methods as long as the grind isn’t too coarse or fine. French press uses a slightly coarser grind than drip, but it’s close enough not to matter. The paper filters of a drip machine absorb the oils that give coffee it’s rich flavor, so you’ll lose some of the richness.

    Now to the ‘no’.
Auto drip machines don’t do well on less than a full pot. Since machines usually make larger batches than a press, I doubt you have enough to make a proper drip batch. If you don’t use enough grounds (1 rounded tbsp per 6oz of water) you’ll end up over extracting the beans and making a bitter batch.

If you want to make a french press without buying one, try this:
Fill a small pot with the correct amount of water for the amount of grinds you have.
Bring water to a boil & remove from heat.
Add coffee grounds to hot water & let sit for 4 minutes.
Pour through a fine strainer. You can line one with a paper filter if you don’t have on fine enough, but you will lose the richer flavor.

Never boil coffee; that’s why you remove the water from the heat & why percolators are the worst way to make coffee.
